Further $500,000 Accessible For Indigenous Apprenticeship Programs, Mentoring And Profession Exploration
In the present day, the Authorities of Saskatchewan introduced a one-time $500,000 injection of extra funding for the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Commerce Certification Fee (SATCC) to spend money on the Indigenous Apprenticeship Initiatives (IAI) program. Whereas roughly 85 per cent of apprenticeship coaching takes place within the office, apprenticeship programs, mentoring and profession exploration and steerage are equally essential steps in recruiting, coaching and retaining apprentices.
As of June 30, 2022, there have been over 6,000 registered apprentices in Saskatchewan. Seventeen per cent of these apprentices self-identified as Indigenous.
