June 14, 2023 — Generally birders within the North Nation are fortunate sufficient to mix their private ardour for birding with their skilled careers. Derek Rogers is one such birder. He is Stewardship supervisor for the Adirondack Land Belief, based mostly within the Champlain Valley and a longtime birder.
Rogers grew up on Lengthy Island, and remembers fishing and clamming along with his dad on the north shore the place he noticed a number of shore and seabirds. He studied environmental science at SUNY Plattsburgh, and now lives in Willsboro along with his spouse and daughters. And alongside the way in which, he is maintained a love for birding.
As a part of our on-going collection of conversations with birders and about birding, Todd Moe caught up with Derek this week to speak about fowl conservation, his work on the Adirondack Land Belief, and the “spark” fowl that acquired him excited by birding .
